UD hosts social work conference on generational mental health and substance use disorders

Responding to the needs of Delaware communities, the University of Delaware College of Education and Human Development will host a social work conference from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 17, at FinTech Innovation Hub in Newark, Delaware.

Titled "Navigating the Ripple Effects: Addressing Mental Health and Substance Use Disorders Across Generations in Families,” the conference will explore the complex intersection of mental health and substance use disorders within families. Designed for Delaware social workers, treatment providers, educators and students, the event will examine how these interconnected issues impact individuals, relationships and family dynamics across generations.

Participants will earn up to 5.5 continuing education units, learn about UD’s new master of social work program and hear from field experts on generational trauma, intervention strategies, policy advocacy and the role of technology in treatment.

Registration is $75 and includes admission to the conference, a light breakfast and lunch. The conference is free for students.

Register online by Oct. 10.
