Colloquium on Power Analysis

Gregory Hancock of the University of Maryland will share research on educational measurement

Join University of Delaware’s College of Education and Human Development (CEHD) for a colloquium with Gregory Hancock, professor of measurement, statistics and evaluation at the University of Maryland, from 1:50 to 2:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29, in room 205 of Willard Hall Education Building. The title of his talk is “Power Analysis Has Lost its Way: New Methods to Bring it Back Home.”

Hancock’s research areas include structural equation modeling and latent growth models, the use of latent variables in (quasi)experimental design and power analysis. His research has appeared in journals such as Psychometrika, Multivariate Behavioral Research and Structural Equation Modeling: A Multidisciplinary Journal, among many others. He is a fellow of the American Educational Research Association, the American Psychological Association (APA) and the Association for Psychological Science, as well as a recipient of the APA’s 2011 Jacob Cohen Award for Distinguished Contributions to Teaching and Mentoring.
