Nearly 200 global educators joined the 2025 IT Teaching Workshop on AI at the University of Delaware
Nearly 200 educators and scholars from around the world participated in the 2025 Information Systems Teaching Workshop, hosted by the University of Delaware’s Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics on May 15–16. With more than 130 attending virtually and over 70 in person, the sold-out event featured faculty from 140-plus universities across North America, Europe and Asia, underscoring the global momentum behind artificial intelligence (AI) in business education.
Held in UD’s FinTech Innovation Hub and the Courtyard Newark, the workshop showcased over 20 rapid-fire presentations on integrating AI, data science and information systems into business curricula. Topics ranged from AI-driven learning tools to course design, ethics and simulations for nontechnical MBA students.
“This workshop is about more than teaching methods; it’s about transforming the way we prepare students for an AI-powered world,” said Oliver Yao, dean of the Lerner College.
A highlight was the Dean’s Panel on “AI and the Future of Business Education,” moderated by Yao and featuring leaders from DePaul, Maryland, UC Davis and UD. Faculty also connected during a pre-event dialogue at Longwood Gardens.
“The IT Teaching Workshop is a unique institution,” said Hemant Bhargava, professor of technology management at UC Davis. “It keeps our curriculum current and our community inspired.”
“This is the leading teaching-focused workshop in our field,” added Harry Wang, UD professor of management information systems and co-organizer.
Participants praised the practical value. “It offered exactly the kind of innovative ideas I’ve been looking for,” said Beibei Li, professor of IT and management, Anna Loomis McClandless Chair at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business.
