Held at UD Athletics Complex, City of Newark’s annual event to feature live entertainment, art, food and community vendors

The City of Newark will host its annual Liberty Day and Fireworks celebration on Friday, July 4, 2025, with an evening of music, food, family fun—and of course, fireworks. The event runs from 6 to 10 p.m. at the UD Athletic Complex, 631 S. College Ave.

Magical Mystery, a Beatles tribute band, will kick off the festivities at 6 p.m., bringing the spirit of the '60s to the main stage. At 7:45 p.m., Mike Hines & the Look will keep the energy going with their blend of pop, funk and soul.

Families can enjoy children’s games, browse local craft vendors and sample food trucks and vendors stationed throughout the complex. The night culminates with a fireworks display around 9:30 p.m.

Free parking is available at Delaware Stadium, the Bob Carpenter Center, the Woods Lot off Route 4 and the north and south lots of STAR Campus. Attendees are reminded that alcohol is not permitted, and pets should be left at home for their safety and comfort.

In the event of inclement weather, the rain date is scheduled for Saturday, July 5. Updates can be found on the City of Newark’s Leisure Time Hotline at 302-366-7147.
