University of Delaware community reports new presentations, publications

Presentations

On July 15, 2025, Sheng Lu, professor and graduate director of Fashion and Apparel Studies (FASH), and Katie Yasik, FASH graduate student, presented their study on U.S. fashion companies’ sourcing strategies for sustainable apparel at a seminar hosted by the Textile Office at the U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) in Washington, D.C. Lu also presented his research at the United States Fashion Industry Association (USFIA) Washington Trade Symposium held on July 16, 2025, on Capitol Hill and USFIA Board of Directors meeting on July 17, 2025, in Washington, D.C. During the presentations, Lu shared findings from the latest survey study he conducted in collaboration with USFIA regarding the impacts of tariffs on U.S. fashion companies’ sourcing strategies. In addition, on July 21, 2025, Lu presented his study "The Impact of Tariffs on U.S. Textile and Apparel Trade" at the Southern Textile Association (STA) annual meeting held in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. Founded in 1908, STA is one of the oldest and most prestigious organizations representing the U.S. textile manufacturing sector. 

Publications

Peter Weil, professor emeritus of anthropology, is the author of “Secrets of Early Densmores,” published in ETCetera, no. 146, Summer 2025, pp. 2-7.
