UD improves retirement eligibility rules

Shift to ‘Rule of 75’ will benefit eligible staff

The University of Delaware is enhancing its staff retirement eligibility criteria by shifting to the “Rule of 75,” effective Jan. 1, 2024.

This change will reduce the time an eligible staff member needs to retire. Staff who are primary in the 403(b) Retirement Plan will be subject to the following age/service eligibility criteria:

  • Age and service when combined equal 75 (Staff must be at least age 55 when combined with service. Staff must have at least 10 benefits-eligible years of service when combined with age.)

  • Any age and 30 benefits-eligible years of service

To answer employees’ questions, Human Resources will offer informational Zoom sessions later this month. For more information, visit the Human Resources page or contact hrhelp@udel.edu.
