Office of Sustainability seeks Green Grant Proposals by April 30

The University of Delaware’s Office of Sustainability is accepting applications for the 2023 Green Grants program. Created in 2010, the Green Grants program provides seed grant project funds to facilitate an increased level of student, staff and faculty engagement to practice and enhance the principles of sustainability across operations, academics, student life, research and community engagement that support the University’s strategic plan.

Since the program’s launch, Green Grants has funded 23 sustainability projects on campus totaling more than $70,000. Previous successful projects include the planting of a native plant meadow on North Campus, the creation of a green roof on Colburn Hall and the development of recycled cement pavers.

“Promoting a more sustainable environment at the University of Delaware benefits the quality of life for everyone who engages with our campus and reduces our impact on the planet,” said Chris Williams, associate provost and academic director for the Office of Sustainability. "We are committed to supporting students and their innovative ideas that will make our campus more sustainable."

Graduate students and supervised undergraduate students are encouraged to apply. Projects should not exceed $5,000 but the Office of Sustainability is willing to consider projects that request more if they are exceptionally creative or innovative. Green Grants applications will be accepted through April 30, 2023.
