Workforce development webinar set Feb. 23

Discussing the role of an engaged university in meeting needs for skilled workforce

“Workforce Development: How Partnerships Between Engaged Universities and Organizations Can Promote Better Living Circumstances for All People” will be the subject of a Zoom webinar, scheduled at 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23, as part of the Equity in Action Speaker Series of UD’s Community Engagement Initiative.

The webinar will focus of the role of an engaged university from the perspective of curriculum development, community engagement, research and service learning in meeting the needs of organizations seeking a skilled workforce. It also will explore opportunities to innovate while creating access for low-income individuals to develop skills to enhance their life situations.

Panelists will include Federica Bianco, associate professor of physics; Nathan Elton, executive director of Postgraduate and Student Success Integration; George Irvine, associate vice provost for Professional and Continuing Studies; and Mary Dupont, executive director of La Plaza Delaware.
