Continuing the transition to Webex Calling

Webex Calling app replacing existing VoIP phone services

To better support the University of Delaware's future work environment, UD Information Technologies (UDIT) continues to migrate UD’s existing VoIP phone services to Webex Calling, with an expected completion date of early 2023.

More than 100 campus departments have transitioned to Webex. As phone numbers are migrated, four-digit dialing will no longer work to and from those lines and employees should use ten-digit dialing (302-831-XXXX). When making calls from a VoIP phone that has not been migrated, employees will still need to dial 9 before the 10-digit number.

Migrating to Webex Calling allows employees to use their current 831 number to make and receive calls regardless of their location or device. Calling will be transitioned to the Webex applications for most users, but also supports traditional Cisco desk phones where needed. All calls made using Webex are encrypted. Voicemail notifications, which include a .wav file and a transcription of the message, will be automatically forwarded to your email. Employees will have self-service control over their phone settings, such as call forwarding, voicemail PIN resets, "Do Not Disturb" settings, and caller ID block.

For units that have not yet migrated, UDIT is reaching out to centralized contacts and IT professionals to determine existing phone services and migration scheduling. UDIT is cognizant of timing constraints and will take that into consideration when scheduling.

Once migrations have been scheduled, employees with VoIP phone lines will receive more information via email. Training videos and documentation will be provided. Personalized training is available on request.

UDIT Telephone Services is hosting Zoom meetings every Monday at 9 a.m. and Wednesday at 1 p.m. to answer your questions and address your concerns. Join via Zoom.
