Scholars to discuss decriminalization of sex work
Two philosophers will engage in a debate at the University of Delaware about the decriminalization of sex work on Thursday, April 21.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 7 p.m. in Room 116 Gore Hall, with a reception to follow.
Debating “Should Sex Work Be Decriminalized?” will be Lori Watson and Jessica Flanigan.
Watson is a professor of philosophy at Washington University in St. Louis. She works in political and moral philosophy, feminism and philosophy of law and is the author of Equal Citizenship and Public Reason (with Christie Hartley; 2018), Debating Sex Work (with Jessica Flanigan; 2019) and Debating Pornography (with Andrew Altman; 2019).
Flanigan is associate professor of leadership studies and philosophy, politics, economics and law and Richard L. Morrill Chair in Ethics and Democratic Values at the University of Richmond. She works in ethics, bioethics and political philosophy and is the author of Pharmaceutical Freedom: Why Patients Have a Right to Self-Medicate (2017) and Debating Sex Work (with Lori Watson; 2019).
