City to host annual fireworks display at UD Athletics Complex
July 01, 2021
July 2 event to follow CDC, state, local health guidelines
The city of Newark will hold its annual fireworks display, beginning at dusk, Friday, July 2, at the University of Delaware Athletic Complex.
This is a fireworks-only event; no vendors or entertainment will be present. Those attending will view the event from their vehicle locations; there will be no lawn or grass viewing areas available. Tailgating and large congregations are prohibited.
Free parking will be available beginning at 7 p.m. at the complex lots, including those surrounding Delaware Stadium and the Bob Carpenter Center. Parking also will be available at the Woods Lot, off Route 4, and the north and south lots on the STAR Campus. Please follow all instructions of staff and volunteers in the parking areas.
Alcohol is not permitted at the event, and the community is advised to leave pets at home and make sure they are secured safely during the display, as the noise can frighten animals.
In accordance with CDC, state and local guidelines, masks are not required outdoors, but individuals must maintain a physical distance of 3 feet from nonfamily members.
Rain date is Monday, July 5. If the weather is questionable on July 2, call the city’s Leisure Time hotline at 302-366-7147.
