


Virtual Dance Injury Prevention Workshop

NYU’s Harkness Center for Dance Injury, UD Dept. of Theatre offer dance injury prevention workshop
University of Delaware students and community members are invited to attend an upcoming workshop on general dance injury prevention set for Friday, Feb. 19 at 2 p.m.
Organized by the UD Department of Theatre’s Kimberly Schroeder, an assistant professor who teaches in the UD Dance minor, and in partnership with NYU’s Harkness Center for Dance Injury, this free virtual webinar has UD Dance students in mind, but is free and open to anyone interested in learning general safety and tips around dancing. This can be useful, regardless of whether you are in a ballet studio or practicing from home. The workshop will focus on the following:
- Dance injury facts
- Cross-training
- The science of stretching, basic nutrition and mental health
- Practical tips on flooring, footwear and clothing when it comes to training from home
The workshop will be presented by Joshua Honrado, a certified strength and conditioning specialist who provides backstage care to Broadways shows and elite dance companies.
