'School of Rock' on stage at Roselle Center for the Arts

Youth production presented July 26-28 by Community Music School summer camp

The University of Delaware Community Music School is presenting a youth production of the musical School of Rock from Friday through Sunday, July 26-28.

As part of the Community Music School's summer musical theatre camp, youngsters from fourth grade through high school have spent the past few weeks working on all aspects of the show, from set design and costumes, to acting and singing, to performing in the orchestra to running crew.

Performances are scheduled at 7 p.m., Friday and Saturday, July 26-27, and at 2 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, July 27-28, in the Thompson Theatre at the Roselle Center for the Arts on the Newark campus.

Tickets -- at $10 for adults and $5 for children -- will be available at the door.

Based on the Paramount movie of the same name, School of Rock features book by Julian Fellowes, lyrics by Glenn Slater and new music by Andrew Lloyd Webber.

This production is supported, in part, by a grant from the Delaware Division of the Arts, a state agency, in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts. The Division promotes Delaware arts events on DelawareScene.com.
