2017-18 Faculty Gala brings teaching artists together in annual performance
The University of Delaware Department of Music will present the 2017-18 Faculty Gala at 8 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at Mitchell Hall on the Newark campus.
In grand UD tradition, music faculty members gather annually to kick up their heels and kick off the academic year in a special evening of musical celebration. This year the Department of Music's distinguished faculty artists will appear in Tango Academia, with music from Poulenc to Piazolla. Students and the public are invited to witness the teaching artists in action on the concert stage as they bring their artistry to life in performance.
Tickets, at $5, are on sale now by phone. Call the box office at 302-831-2204 from noon-5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Advance tickets also will be sold at the door, subject to availability, but by cash or check only.
“At the University of Delaware, we believe that a vibrant, exciting arts program is an essential element of life for our students, faculty, staff and community,” said UD President Dennis Assanis. “Performance art, especially music, transcends our differences and brings us together to share a beautiful, creative moment.”
The University of Delaware Department of Music leads the state of Delaware’s thriving arts scene in total music performances, producing and presenting more than 250 events each year.
