The University of Delaware campus radio station welcomed its 2017 inductees into the WVUD Hall of Fame on Monday, May 8. This year’s inductees were Ellen Ellis, Gloria James and Michael Tsarouhas.

Ellis, a long-time station member, is best known as the host of The Green Willow, a Celtic music program on Wednesday evenings. She joins her husband Mark as a recipient of this honor.

James is also a veteran program host for the station, and serves as the Thursday night Avenue C jazz host. She also has voiced many of the promotional announcements on the radio station over the years.

Tsarouhas, a 2013 graduate of UD, was a student production director. While he never did an on-air show, his voice (and the voice of the many characters he performs) is featured on a daily basis in the myriad of station promos that he and his team prepared. Tsarouhas is current working as a voiceover talent specializing in video game acting. (See the earlier UDaily story here).

"I didn't have any clear direction when I first came to college regarding what I wanted out of my education. I had signed up for a few different extracurriculars, and working in production at WVUD was one of the most fun and interesting to me, said Tsarouhas.

He added, “Through my work there in voice over, I eventually started doing voice over commercially and got more involved in video game development. I was fortunate enough to get an opportunity to live abroad in Europe and continue to work in a very new and creative field, and I owe it to WVUD that I found this opportunity."

“To see a student utilizing our programs or services to find their passion and to combine that passion with their own talents to achieve post-college success is fantastic. Accomplishments like Michael’s are the ultimate reward for a student life professional,” said Steve Kramarck, associate director, University Student Centers.
