Career Services Center invites students to visit companies in region
The University of Delaware’s Career Services Center has invited students to attend the 2017 UD Career Treks, in which they can visit a variety of companies in Maryland, Washington, D.C., and New York City.
These site visits are designed to provide an inside view of an organization’s employment opportunities and culture, and give students the opportunity to network with employers in their industry of choice.
This spring, all Career Treks will take place on Wednesday, April 5.
Students interested in engineering, technology, health and science will be traveling to Maryland to hear from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Center for Devices and Radiological Health and also its Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition.
Students in marketing and communications will be going to New York City to see HBO Studios, MongoDB and McGarryBowen.
Those desiring to work in the government, law, public policy, and nonprofit arenas will visit Washington, D.C., to learn about opportunities with the Smithsonian, NPR and Mercury Public Affairs.
Students interested in the fashion industry will head to New York City to visit Castlewood Apparel, Ross Stores, PVH and Ralph Lauren. However, students should note that the fashion Career Trek deadline has passed and the program is not accepting any more applicants.
Students can apply for the Career Trek of their choice via Handshake. The application requires that students submit a resume and short essay explaining why they are interested in participating in the trip. Search “UD Career Trek” under the “Jobs and Internships” module to find the opportunities on Handshake.
Career Treks provide students with the opportunity to meet recruiters and UD alumni from multiple employers in various cities. Career Treks are coordinated by the UD Career Services Center in collaboration with the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics Career Services Center and the Office of Development and Alumni Relations.
Bus transportation to the sites is provided, and there is no fee for students to attend. For the list of companies in attendance and more information on how to apply, view the UD Career Services Center website.
