Horn Entrepreneurship introduces program to support innovation in K-12 classrooms
The University of Delaware’s Horn Program in Entrepreneurship and Division of Professional and Continuing Studies are hosting a program for K-12 teachers from all academic areas, administrators and community leaders on June 20-22 at the Venture Development Center.
The Program for Innovative Educators (PIE) is a series of workshops in which participants will learn how to integrate concepts of entrepreneurship and innovation into their classrooms. Cost to attend is $395. Information on registration and schedule are available at this website.
The program is being spearheaded by Julie Frieswyk, the youth programs lead for Horn Entrepreneurship. She says that, “We created this program to respond to a need voiced by the educators whose students participated in Diamond Challenge, our high school entrepreneurship competition. Through this program, educators will be able to develop skills in their students that will have lasting impact.”
PIE will be taught by Dan Freeman, founding director of Horn Entrepreneurship, and Tony Middlebrooks, director of graduate programs at Horn Entrepreneurship. Educators will gain an understanding of evidence-based entrepreneurial process from design thinking and ideation to the business model canvas.
The Program for Innovative Educators is part of the Paul and Linda McConnell Youth Entrepreneurship Education Initiative at University of Delaware.
