Project management exam prep

Project management PMP, CAPM exam prep offered Saturdays this winter

The University of Delaware has teamed up with the Delaware Valley Chapter of the Project Management Institute to offer the Project Management Professional (PMP) and Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) exam prep classes this winter.

The PMP exam prep course takes place Jan. 28 and Feb. 4; the CAPM exam prep course takes place Feb. 25 and March 4. Both courses consist of two full-day Saturday sessions, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., in Newark, Delaware.

The PMP and CAPM credentials are both Project Management Institute (PMI)-administered certifications and are the most nationally and internationally recognized designations for project managers.

PMI’s industry research predicts approximately 1.57 million new project management jobs will be created globally each year through 2020.

Interested individuals are invited to attend a free information session on Thursday, Jan. 12, from 5:45-8 p.m. at the University of Delaware’s Arsht Hall, 2700 Pennsylvania Ave., Wilmington.

The UD exam prep workshops offer intensive preparation for PMI’s certification exams and focus on key topics documented in the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK). The workshops also cover sample exam questions and best practices to prepare for the exam.

The PMP exam prep class is intended for experienced project managers or those who have completed a project management fundamentals class either at UD or elsewhere. The CAPM prep class provides project managers at earlier stages in their careers the opportunity to pursue the intermediate credential. In addition to passing the PMP or CAPM exam, requirements for earning either credential include project management experience and education requirements.

A 14-week Project Management Certificate program is also available, aimed at newly appointed or aspiring project managers, as well as experienced project leaders seeking to earn project management education credits associated with the PMI exam and certification process. This spring, the Project Management Certificate is offered in Dover, Wilmington and Newark, with start dates in early February.

These programs are offered through UD’s Division of Professional and Continuing Studies. UD students and UD alumni are eligible for a discount when enrolling. Other discounts include a military/veterans discount, and a group discount when two or more individuals from one business or organization register for the program. Members of PMI Delaware Valley Chapter also receive a discount.

In addition to the PMP, CAPM and Project Management programs, other business-related programs presented at the Jan. 12 information session include Analytics: Optimizing Big Data, Business Analysis, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, and Social Media Marketing Strategy. For details or to RSVP for the free information session, visit this website. Walk-ins are also welcome.
