Lavender Graduation

UD’s first ever LGBTQ+ graduation celebration planned for May 6

Graduating students who identify within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer communities are invited to celebrate their journey to #UDGrad2017 at the University of Delaware’s first Lavender Graduation celebration, planned by the LGBT Program Coordinator in the Division of Student Life and scheduled for Saturday, May 6, at 6 p.m. in Bayard Sharp Hall.

Graduates are welcomed to bring guests, and must RSVP for all guests online by Friday, April 21.

This year-end celebration will include refreshments and remarks by two outstanding seniors as well as UD’s vice president for student life, Dawn Thompson. Participants will be honored with a graduation certificate as well as lavender cords to wear at commencement.

All members of the University of Delaware community who identify as members or supporters of the LGBTQ+ campus communities are invited to support graduates by attending this inaugural ceremony, which was designed to complement the Lavender Reception offered for incoming LGBTQ+ students during 1743 Welcome Days each fall.

All attendees are asked to RSVP online. Any questions may be directed to Rebekah Harless-Balmer, LGBT program coordinator.
