UD senior Guillermo Delgado named to Hermann Trophy watch list
University of Delaware senior Guillermo Delgado is one of 28 men who have been named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s (MAC) Hermann Trophy watch list.
The MAC Hermann Trophy is the most prestigious individual award in college soccer presented annually to the outstanding male and female players of the year. The winners will be announced Friday, Jan. 6, 2017, during the trophy presentation at the Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis.
The list is compiled by the members of the NSCAA men’s NCAA Division I All-America Committees, based on analysis of returning All-America and All-Region players.
“Guillermo has been a great ambassador for the University of Delaware, our athletics department and our men’s soccer program,” said UD head coach Ian Hennessy, who begins his 11th season at the helm of the Blue Hens in 2016. “He is well-deserved of this honor which recognizes the nation’s top player.”
A three-time All-American and All-Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) pick, Delgado is second in UD history with 85 career points and 37 career goals.
The forward completed his junior campaign in 2015 with a team-best 24 points and 10 goals. Delgado led the CAA with 1.20 points per game, 0.50 goals per contest and four game-winning goals.
