Chris Hudson named interim chief budget officer
Chris Hudson, director of planning and operations in the University of Delaware Office of the Executive Vice President (EVP), has been named as the interim chief budget officer, effective immediately.
Hudson succeeds Kathy Dettloff, who recently announced her appointment as vice president for financial planning and budgeting at Rutgers University.
Hudson assumes responsibility for the University’s budget office, which leads the development and management of the University’s budget, four-year financial plan and all related reporting. The budget office supports leadership and the pursuit of the University’s mission and highest priorities with financial and policy analysis.
“I am happy that Chris has agreed to take on this important responsibility,” said Alan Brangman, executive vice president and University treasurer. “She brings to the table a thorough understanding of the University’s budget process, as well as inside knowledge of the state budget process.”
Hudson said, “I look forward to serving in the interim chief budget officer role and continuing to build upon the collaborative efforts already underway across the University.”
She joined the University in 2008 and has been a member of the executive vice president’s leadership team since 2009, participating in long-range fiscal and operational planning and goal setting for the institution and in the design and establishment of strategic financial and operational services. Her responsibilities have included overseeing the preparation and monitoring of budgets and expense activities for units reporting to the executive vice president. She also has coordinated the planning and strategy activities of the EVP Group, ensuring consistency with the overall mission, goals and strategic objectives of the University.
Hudson also was responsible for the Board of Trustees capital budget preparation, as well as details and funding of that budget and all construction projects University-wide. Before joining the University, Hudson served as business manager and associate vice president of finance at Delaware Technical Community College and as director of finance at the Delaware Department of Transportation.
Hudson holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with an emphasis in finance from the University of Wisconsin, Oshkosh, and an MBA from Wilmington University.
