Ascend Leadership Program

UD's program for mid-level leaders

Mid-level leaders aren’t just leading teams—they’re preparing themselves and their colleagues for what’s next. The Ascend Leadership Program is designed to accelerate that transition by building the capabilities required at the senior level.

Individuals will strengthen strategic thinking, expand their ability to influence across functions, learn to engage with humility across difference, and learn to navigate complexity, ambiguity, and organizational dynamics with confidence. Through guided practice and reflection, individuals will build emotional regulation, resilience, self-awareness, and the courage to lead under pressure. Ideal participants are those who lead and influence others,, and are being considered for broader or more senior leadership responsibilities.

A defining feature of the program is the cohort experience. Participants move through the program together, creating a trusted space to share challenges, test ideas, and learn from diverse perspectives. This cohort model builds strong cross-functional relationships, deepens accountability, and fosters a sense of shared growth that extends well beyond the program itself. Cohort members will maintain relationships and serve as trusted advisors to each other beyond the program itself.

The facilitators are subject matter experts from across the organization, bringing diverse perspectives and real-world experience to the program. Their varied backgrounds enrich the learning experience and ensure content is grounded in the realities of our campus and leadership environment.

How do I apply or nominate a colleague?

Individuals may apply directly or be nominated by their manager and/or senior leader. Nominations should reflect both demonstrated performance and readiness for growth. Participation selection will be based not only on readiness and potential, but also on ensuring strong representation from across the organization to enrich the cohort learning experience.

Those who anticipate significant scheduling conflicts are encouraged to consider a future cohort to fully benefit from the experience.
