Where Art Moves Minds: Dance. Think. Lead.

Discover your voice through movement in the University of Delaware’s Bachelor of Arts in Dance—Delaware’s only dance degree program. This dynamic and rigorous program offers an immersive experience in technical dance training, choreography, and dance studies, grounded in both fine and liberal arts. Students explore dance as an embodied practice, engaging in performance, creative research, and scholarship rooted in historical, cultural, and social contexts. With an emphasis on interdisciplinary exploration and scholarly inquiry, the program creates space for students to double major or add a minor(s). Studying dance, while making connections to other areas of study prepares students for a wide range of careers in dance, the arts, and related fields—or for continued study at the graduate level.

Rooted in values of inclusivity, the program fosters a welcoming, student-centered community where each dancer’s perspective is valued and integrated into the learning experience. Graduates are prepared to thrive in a variety of roles—as performers, choreographers, educators, administrators, advocates, entrepreneurs, and beyond—bringing creativity, critical thinking, and adaptability to every endeavor. Whether pursuing professional work in the performing arts or applying dance knowledge in fields like communications, event planning, education, or wellness, students emerge with the ability to move fluently between practice and theory. The BA in Dance at UD empowers students to explore their unique artistic interests, build meaningful careers, and become change-makers in their communities and the world.
