UD SCHOLARSHIP

Opportunity starts here.

Thank you for taking the first step toward creating your named scholarship!

This scholarship puts your name behind a Blue Hen’s UD experience, one that begins on campus but extends far beyond. With a total commitment of $20,000 or more (payable over up to four years), your current-use fund begins supporting a student in the academic year after it’s created.

Follow the steps below to complete your gift online. Have questions? Check out the FAQ or contact our team at 302.831.7455 or kwiseman@udel.edu.

About Your Named Scholarship Fund

A named scholarship can be created with a total commitment of $20,000 or more.

Because it’s a current-use fund, your scholarship doesn’t wait on endowment earnings. It begins supporting students with financial need in the academic year after it’s created and is awarded over at least four years, depending on your payment schedule. You can keep it going beyond that with additional gifts.

You choose the name, whether it honors you, your family or someone you love. As your scholarship reaches students, we’ll share the impact it’s making.

Scholarship FAQ

All gifts to the University of Delaware are tax-deductible. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit, and our tax ID number (EIN) is 51-6000297.

Current-use scholarship funds are designed to support students immediately, and your named fund will remain active until your full donation has been distributed to UD students.

There are two pathways to sustain your fund beyond the term of your original gift:

  • You can replenish your immediate-use scholarship fund through additional contributions.
  • You can establish an endowed fund that will support UD students in perpetuity. With a gift of $100,000 or more (pledged over five years or fewer), your endowed scholarship will distribute 4% of the fund amount to students each year.  Student support will begin once your fund reaches $50,000.

“For folks contemplating a scholarship, I would say, the future is now... Pick up the phone tomorrow and figure out what you’re passionate about. The university does a wonderful job of helping to bring your passion to life.”
