Search advisory committee plans forums June 7-10

Members of the University of Delaware community will have the opportunity next week to hear presentations from the top three candidates for the position of vice president and chief human resources officer at UD.

Each candidate will participate in a virtual forum open only to the UD employees, as well as face to face meetings with representative campus constituencies Monday through Thursday, June 7-10. The virtual forums will tentatively be scheduled from 10-11:30 a.m. More information regarding virtual forum links and candidate profiles will be forthcoming at this website. Please note that candidates’ CVs will only be posted 48 hours in advance of each forum. UD employees will also have the opportunity to share feedback with the search advisory committee.

The vice president and chief human resources officer provides strategic leadership on human resources matters to UD administrators, faculty and staff, while acting at all times as the steward of employee resources in service to the University’s mission. The vice president is charged with leading a strategic, transparent and customer-service-oriented human resources function at the University, characterized by functional and operational excellence. The search advisory committee, composed of faculty and staff with broad academic and administrative expertise, has been working diligently to identify top candidates for the position.

Chaired by Mary Remmler, vice president for strategic planning and analysis, the committee includes Jen Becnel-Guzzo, associate vice president and deputy general counsel; Gary Henry, dean of the College of Education and Human Development; Sylvester Johnson, director of Custodial and University Services; Matt Kinservik, vice provost for faculty affairs; Lynnette Overby, director of the Community Engagement Initiative; Chrissi Rawak, director of Intercollegiate Athletics and Recreation Services; Charlie Riordan, vice president for Research, Scholarship and Innovation; Chris Williams, president of the Faculty Senate.

“The candidates identified by the search advisory committee all bring impressive records of professional achievement that would serve this critical leadership position well,” Remmler said. “I encourage the UD campus community to attend the forums to learn more about each candidate and provide valued feedback that will help inform our hiring recommendations for this very important position at the University.”

Jared Aupperle has been serving as interim vice president for human resources since Feb. 5, 2020.
