Fall semester virtual sessions open to students and staff
The University of Delaware Writing Center is offering five virtual workshops during the fall semester to help UD students and staff with issues that writers often face. Workshops will be recorded and posted to the Writing Center’s website.
“The Organized Writer/Researcher: Planning a Long-term Project or Paper,” Oct. 7 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn strategies for planning their writing/research activities to make progress toward their writing goals. This workshop is applicable to students working on a thesis, dissertation or other long-term writing projects.
“The Insightful Writer/Researcher: Three Ways to Use Writing to Enhance Your Research,” Oct. 21 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn three strategies to use informal writing to strengthen how they interact with published sources in their own research and deepen their insights into data they have collected.
“The Engaging Writer/Researcher: The CARS Model of Introductions,” Oct. 28 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn about the CARS Model of writing an introduction section in a research project, paper, article or essay.
“How Do I Revise, Part I? Reworking Content and Organization,” Nov. 11 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn strategies for making substantive revisions to the content and organization of a first draft. This workshop is applicable to students looking for specific activities they can do as writers to assess an early draft.
“How Do I Revise, Part II? Reworking Sentences for Style and Clarity,” Nov. 18 at 3 p.m. Participants will learn techniques for revising and editing sentences to read more precisely and clearly.
