Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences to host graduate, undergraduate program information sessions

The University of Delaware Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences (MLS) will host information sessions about its graduate and undergraduate educational programs on Friday, Feb. 16, in room 109 of Willard Hall Education Building, at 25 North College Ave. in Newark.

A session on MLS undergraduate programs runs from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m., followed by a graduate program session from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

“Our programs provide an up-to-date response to the emerging challenges of the expanding fields of biomedical science,” said Esther Biswas-Fiss, who chairs MLS. “Our innovative programs combine critical elements of science, technology and business to prepare graduates for a variety of jobs in clinical, biotechnology and pharmaceutical sectors.”

Prospective students can hear directly from MLS faculty, staff and current students about how these unique programs are preparing tomorrow’s workforce in the biomedical sectors.

Please register in advance. Refreshments will be provided.

Undergraduate programs

Undergraduate offerings include Applied Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, and Medical Diagnostics. The coursework includes hands-on experience in respective fields. Some majors offer guaranteed internships or opportunities to engage in global health or patient care.

Graduate programs

Graduate programs include master of science and doctoral programs in medical sciences. Each of these offer flexible curricula that allow students to tailor their academic program to their specific interests. Master of science students can focus on laboratory administration, teaching, advanced skills practice or research. Now entering its sixth year, the Ph.D. program supports students whose research ranges from the bench to the bedside — all with an interdisciplinary approach.

The department will offer future information sessions on March 16, April 13 and May 18 at the same time and location.
