Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering announces fall speakers

The University of Delaware Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering has announced its fall seminar series, with presentations on select Fridays starting Sept. 16 and continuing through Dec. 2.

The series will open with a presentation by Daeyeon Lee, professor of chemical and biomolecular engineering at the University of Pennsylvania, who will speak on “Toward Scalable Nanomanufacturing Using Capillarity” on Friday, Sept. 16.

All seminars in the series will begin at 10 a.m. in 102 Colburn Laboratory unless otherwise specified.

The series will continue as follows:

Oct. 7: Bradley Olsen of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will deliver the Allan P. Colburn Memorial Lecture. He will speak on “Revisiting the Physical Chemistry of Polymer Networks.”

Oct. 21: Jonathan Dordick of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will deliver the Robert L. Pigford Memorial Lecture. He will speak on “Exploiting the Interface of Biomolecular Engineering and Materials Science to Generate New Therapeutic Outcomes.”

Oct. 28: Yunfeng Lu of the University of California, Los Angeles, will speak on “Life is Good: A Journey from Energy Storage to Protein Therapeutics.”

Nov. 4: Efrosini Kokkoli of the University of Minnesota will speak on “Design of ssDNA Micelles and Nanotubes for Targeting Cancer.”

Nov. 11: Elizabeth Topp of Purdue University and a UD alumna from the Class of 1979, will speak on “High Resolution Characterization of Proteins in Amorphous Solids.”

Dec. 2: David Sholl of the Georgia Institute of Technology will speak on “Developing New Nanoporous Materials for Practical Applications Using Computational Modeling – How Close is the Dream to Reality?”
