Areas of Expertise
- Research interests fall in the areas of signal and image processing and human-computer interaction (HCI).
- Work addresses information extraction and display, medical imaging and surgery simulation, signal sampling, reconstruction and enhancement.
- Examines information access problems, such as those experienced by individuals with disabilities. Uses signal processing algorithms to display information in alternative formats, for instance, translating visual images into tactile representations to enable access for the blind.
- Served as an associate editor for numerous signal processing journals and was the Founding Editor in Chief of the journal "Advances in Human-Computer Interaction."
