Areas of Expertise
- Researches how marine animals perceive signals in the world around them, such as light and chemical cues, and how they use that information to guide ecologically relevant behaviors, including finding food and mates.
- Investigated the ecological effect of the (BP) Deepwater Horizon oil spill.
- Well versed in marine animal behavior, biology and the oceans' mesopelagic zone (650 to 3,300 feet below the ocean surface).
- Takes a comprehensive approach, but works extensively on zooplankton, plankton that plays an essential role in marine food chains.
