Areas of Expertise

  • A social psychologist, Forbes works in cognitive neuroscience (a marriage of psychology and neuroscience).
  • Researches the effects of perceived stereotypes on individuals in stereotyped groups (minorities, women, etc.), and looks at how the individuals' motivation, attention and memory is affected by situations that reinforce stereotypes about their group.
  • Also examines the role of genetics in prejudices and predispositions.
  • Can discuss attitudes, beliefs, the way people perceive themselves, prejudice, stereotypes, reducing prejudice and genetics.
