- Has expertise in railroad track engineering, derailment analysis, wheel-rail interaction, rail problems and maintenance including rail inspection and grinding.
- Research interests include safety and derailment prevention, improved track inspection technology and applications, and track maintenance planning.
- Authored or co-authored more than 170 technical papers, 120 technical articles, and two books on railroad engineering.
- Former president of ZETA-TECH, a railroad technical consulting company, which was established by Zarembski.
