The University of Delaware gathers information about the career plans of its graduates following the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE) First-Destination Survey model. The outcomes information is provided at the degree, college and major/program levels for UD graduates with bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees, and reflects their career activities secured within six months of graduation. The data cover four graduating terms (summer, fall, winter, spring) of a given academic year. These graduates are contacted during the spring semester of the academic year and follow-ups and knowledge rate efforts continue through January of the following year. Aggregate data at the degree and college levels are based on the available outcomes data at the individual major/program levels.
Some degree programs (Biomechanics & Movement Science, Energy & Environmental Policy, Environmental Science, and Environmental Studies) are interdisciplinary and offered across multiple colleges. To see the complete career outcomes for each program, select the program from the “Majors / Program” filter, leaving the College filter as “All Colleges”.

UD Career Outcomes Rate
The percentage of graduates who are employed full-time or part-time, continuing their education, serving in the U.S. military or participating in service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Americorps), out of all responses, excluding those who report they are not seeking employment or education. Career Outcomes percentages by category may not add up to the Career Outcomes Rate due to rounding.
National Benchmark Career Outcomes Rate
Calculated by NACE and based on all institutions supplying First-Destination Survey results. The Career Outcomes website displays the National Benchmark at the degree level only (bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate).
Knowledge Rate
The percent of graduates for which UD has reasonable and verifiable information concerning their post-graduation career activities.
Career outcomes information collected through the following sources:
Email-based surveys (note that paper surveys were used in addition to email-based surveys for graduating classes prior to 2019)
LinkedIn, social media and Internet searches
Employers, UD faculty and staff updates on graduates
A small percentage of graduates reported more than a month before graduation that they were seeking employment opportunities, but did not provide an update during the survey collection and social media search period. These graduates’ responses are not included in the outcomes data.
Employment & Salary Data
The “Employment” section represents graduates who are employed full-time or part-time, serving in the U.S. military or participating in service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, Americorps). Median and Mean Salary data are displayed for those employed full-time, where provided (survey respondents are not required to provide salary data) or where the university is aware that an employer pays a standard salary for a particular job. The number of graduates with salary data is displayed, along with the 25th and 75th Percentiles. Salary data will not be reported for fewer than eight respondents.
The most frequently cited employers and job titles are provided, along with links to full listings. All results displayed are based on the filters selected.
Continuing Education Data
The “Continuing Education” section displays the breakdown of degree types UD graduates are pursuing after graduation. An additional breakdown is provided within the five professional degree disciplines:
- Law
- Medicine (Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Optometry, Chiropractic)
- Veterinary
- Physical Therapy
- Pharmacy
The most frequently cited institutions and postgraduate programs are provided, along with links to full listings of programs by institution names. All results displayed are based on the filters selected.
Employment by Location Data
The map displays the states where UD graduates found employment within six months after graduation. Also listed is the number of states and countries outside of the United States where graduates were employed. These data are displayed for all graduates (all degree levels, colleges and programs combined) in a year by selecting either an individual year or “All Years” in the filter.
The Top States and Top Metro Areas display the most frequent states and metro areas where UD graduates are employed, and are based on the filters selected. Please note that some metro areas encompass locations in more than one state.
