Environment, Climate and Ocean (ECO) Camp is an academic camp for students entering grade 7-12 which explores our Earth’s physical, biological, and marine systems.

Camp learning experiences include classroom instruction, hands-on experience collecting and mapping environmental data, and visiting environmental and oceanographic research labs at UD’s Newark and Lewes campuses.

NOTE: There are senior (rising 10th-12th graders) and junior (rising 7th-9th) cohorts in each camp. ECO Camp does not accept recent high school graduates.

ENVIRONMENTAL TECH WEEK

2025 Dates TBA

During the Environmental Tech week in Newark, students will gain an understanding of environmental monitoring, resource mapping, and regional and local ecological challenges. Students will build and fly drones, evaluate freshwater ecosystems, explore sustainability projects, investigate climate change impacts, and assess environmental degradation.

Ages — Rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders

Location — The senior program will leave from Cab Calloway and spend the day at UD's Newark campus, then return at the end of the day to Cab for dismissal.

Ages — Rising 7th, 8th and 9th graders

Location — The junior program will leave from Cab Calloway and spend the day at UD's Newark campus, then return at the end of the day to Cab for dismissal.

MARINE SCIENCE WEEK

2025 Dates TBA

During the Marine Science week in Lewes, students will explore the biodiversity of coastal habitats here in Delaware (marsh, forest, dune, beach, bay, etc.), and the technology used to research them, including lab and field experiences, underwater robotics, microscopes, a range of nets, and so much more.
