Jonathan Cohen has been named Interim Deputy Dean for the College of Earth, Ocean, and Environment at the University of Delaware. Cohen received his doctorate from Duke University and was a post-doctoral fellow at Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institution before joining UD in 2011.
Cohen’s teaching and research focus is on comparative physiology and the behavior of marine animals, particularly marine invertebrates. He has conducted research in the polar regions, especially during the Polar Night, when light levels are low yet still biologically relevant.
As deputy dean, Cohen said he looks forward to forming connections across the college.
"I look forward to building connections and supporting faculty, staff, and students in CEOE,” said Cohen. “I enjoy partnering with colleagues across our academic units to advance initiatives and see opportunities to further connections between the Newark and Lewes campuses."
