Partnering to Ensure Student Success

We look forward to partnering with parents and guardians to ensure success for all of our students.  Keep in mind students must grant others access to their student records, including financial information.  Below are resources on privacy regulations, gaining access our online billing and financing site, using our document intake system, and parent borrowing to assist your student in financing a UD degree.

FERPA

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 grants to students certain rights, privileges, and protections relative to individually identifiable student education records which are maintained by the University.  For more information the implications of this Act at UD, visit the Registrar's Office.

Parent / Guardian Services

Parent/Guardian Secure Services is a web application that allows UD students to share education information with their parents and guardians. Students set parent/guardian access through their UDSIS-Student Center and there indicate what specific components of education information they want to share.

Parents/guardians are granted access to the My Finances online educational billing and financing site through Parent/Guardian Services.

More information can be found on the Registrar's website.

My SFS Docs

The University of Delaware employs an online document management system called My SFS Docs, which facilitates the collection of important information needed to finalize a student's financial aid package. Whether a student is required to submit documents to complete the Federal verification process or has initiated a financial aid appeal, this site ensures that information is submitted securely.

My SFS Docs is the student's account.  As such, the student must set up login information to access this system.  Parents are encouraged to facilitate sending documents and information through their students as there is no separate parent log in option for My SFS Docs.

Finally, please do not email requested documents. Email is not a secure method for sending sensitive information and could delay processing of documents.

Parent Loans

Federal PLUS Loans
Parents of dependent undergraduate students may apply for the Federal Direct PLUS Loan to cover educational expenses not covered by other federal, state, institutional, or outside financial aid.  Students must be enrolled at least half time, generally defined as six credit hours per semester, and families must have a valid Free Application for Federal Student Aid on file at the University.  This loan requires a credit check and repayment.

Private Educational Loans
Students may be eligible to borrow through private educational lenders.  These loans require a credit check and repayment.  Most lenders will require a creditworthy U.S. cosigner.  SFS offers alternative lender information to assist in exploring these products.
