PROGRAM: Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering
I had the opportunity to attend the 2025 American Control Conference (ACC) in Denver, where I presented our work, “Inferring Cell Size Control Mechanisms Through Stochastic Hybrid Modeling.” In this work, we explored how living cells regulate division rates to maintain optimal size using a novel framework that combines differential equations with stochastic division rates. This approach offers powerful, experimentally testable predictions and tools for understanding clonal expansion and cell size control. The conference was an excellent venue to share our research and learn from leading experts. It featured talks from prestigious universities worldwide, showcasing cutting-edge developments in control theory and its applications to a wide range of systems, from biological networks to autonomous vehicles. Attending ACC, which is one of the leading international conferences in systems and control engineering, was an invaluable experience both professionally and personally. It provided the opportunity to connect with researchers, exchange ideas, and explore new directions for interdisciplinary collaboration. I am grateful to the Graduate College for supporting my participation and enabling me to represent our department’s research.
