Attending the American Society for Neurorehabilitation (ASNR) 2025 Annual Conference in Atlanta, GA was an extremely rewarding and exciting experience. The conference was an excellent opportunity to network the leaders in the neurorehabilitation field.
The work I presented as a poster was focused on preliminary results of the third aim of my dissertation research that looks at the how proprioceptive deficits contribute to deficits in arm capacity and real-world performance for individuals after stroke. We found that participants with proprioceptive deficits had reduced paretic arm activity – both paretic arm capacity and real-world performance – compared to those without proprioceptive deficits. It spurred some great feedback and discussion with different Principal Investigators and trainees across the country.
Other than presenting my work, I valued attending numerous research talks including transcutaneous spinal stimulation in the spinal cord population, valuing lived experience as researchers, and integrating behavioral economics in neurorehabilitation.
Overall, attending the ASNR 2025 Annual Conference provided both a great learning experience and networking event that was instrumental to my growth as a graduate student and future clinician scientist.
