Yan Jin (red shirt), professor of Plant and Soil Science , and Wenjuan Zheng, a Post-Doctoral researcher in Plant and Soil Science, are co-authors on a pager with colleagues Saiqi Zeng, Harsh Bais, Jacob M. LaManna, Daniel S. Hussey, and David L. Jacobson titled "Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (PGPR) Reduce Evaporation and Increase Soil Water Retention". The study looks at using Bacillus subtilis strain UD1022 (identified and patented by researchers from College of Agriculture and Natural Resources) to improve water retention in soil and reduce hydraulic conductivity and accumulative evaporation. - (Evan Krape / University of Delaware)
