Virtual Lunch & Learn: The Lowdown on Delaware's Lost Crab Pots
Wednesday, November 4, 2026 12:00pm | Register here

Grab your lunch and join us virtually from 12:00 - 1:30 PM for a behind-the-scenes look at Delaware's Derelict Crab Pot Removal Program! We'll explore how this volunteer-driven effort got its start, what we've accomplished together, and how the program has evolved through innovative technology. Learn how side-scan sonar, mobile mapping units, and GhostVision—an open-source software that automatically detects derelict crab pots from sonar imagery—are helping to locate and remove marine debris locally and abroad more efficiently than ever before.

Hosted by Delaware Sea Grant, this webinar will feature Brittany Haywood (Delaware Sea Grant), Dr. Art Trembanis and Dr. Cameron Bodine (University of Delaware), who will share their experiences leading this collaborative effort and discuss how volunteers and technology are working together to protect our coastal waters.
