Economics: M.A., M.S., 4+1, Ph.D.

ADMISSION TO THE PH.D. IN ECONOMICS IS OPEN FOR THE 2027-28 ACADEMIC YEAR.

About this program

The M.A., M.S. and Ph.D. programs offered by the Department of Economics emphasize strong economic and econometric analysis with areas of specialization, including development economics, household and consumer finance, industrial organization, labor economics, applied macroeconomics and environmental economics.

The curricula provide students with a balance between a core of microeconomic, macroeconomic and econometric theory and applied courses in the fields listed above. These programs prepare individuals for careers in academia, as well as professional careers involving applied economic analysis in both the public and private sectors.

The economics degree is a STEM-designated degree program and provides international students 24 months of OPT (optional practical training) in addition to the original 12 months.

Current UD undergraduate students can be considered for admission to the 4+1 B.S./M.S. or B.S./M.A. in economics.
