In this blog series "Discussing Diversity," Ivy Rehab Talent Acquisition Partner Benjamin Jones answers questions about diversity, equity and inclusion and how Ivy Rehab contributes to a welcoming workplace environment for all.

What is the overall mission of Ivy Rehab?

We inspire and enable people to live life to the fullest!

How do you incorporate values of diversity, equity and inclusion in the workplace?

We lead inclusively—everyone has a voice. We embrace diversity of background, thought and life experience; we do not tolerate discrimination in our community.

What DE&I programs or initiatives does the company have in place?

We have an “I Belong” committee that gets together every month to discuss trends, community outreach initiatives and how we continue to learn and grow as a company around diversity and inclusion. DEI initiatives include high school outreach and collaboration with APTA supporting awareness of the PT profession for underrepresented populations.

How do you ensure that all employees feel welcome, including new hires and interns?

We have an onboarding committee dedicated to ensuring a welcoming, consistent, positive and inclusive new hire and orientation experience for all position types. There are several new initiatives underway to continue to enhance that experience, including a new hire survey to obtain important feedback and continue to enhance our processes.

Why do you think it’s important to foster a diverse and inclusive workplace environment?

As previously stated, at Ivy, we believe everyone has a voice and we embrace diversity of background, thought and experiences. Providing equal opportunity to all members of our team ensure we not only hire and secure the best employees, but are also providing the best patient care possible.

What are you looking for in UD students who want to intern or work at your company? How can they stand out when speaking with your recruiters at our career fairs?

We look for passion, empathy and a genuine desire to help others as top traits for all potential Ivy employees.  Having a positive outlook and being contagious with that positivity is a huge asset and a foundation of our culture.

Anything else UD students should know about your organization?

We love hiring new graduates! We provide a strong support system and welcoming culture to foster a positive career trajectory, including a mentorship program, CEU guidance and reimbursement, Orthopedic Residency Program (in partnership with a top accredited residency program through Hospital for Special Surgery), Pediatric Residency Program and much more. We encourage you to find your passion within the field of physical therapy, OT, SLP in adult ortho and pediatric outpatient settings, and then offer guidance on how to realize that goal.
