These dynamic modules give Blue Hens the tools to enhance career readiness through personal and professional development activities, career education resources and life design exercises. Complete them individually or as a series to prepare for life at UD and beyond. Don't wait—empower yourself to achieve your professional dreams!
All undergraduate students should be automatically enrolled in a Career Center Canvas section. You may need to select "All Courses" in the menu to find their section. If you are not enrolled or lose access to the Canvas site, complete the registration form below. Graduate students are not automatically enrolled and can use the same form to gain access to the graduate-specific Canvas site.

Develop career and self-development competencies. Use this module to learn how to navigate the Canvas site, understand career competencies and explore ways to approach the next steps in your life.
Get to Know Yourself
To better understand and get to know yourself, it is important to identify your likes, interests and values. It also means reflecting on your character and personality traits. Learning more about yourself can help you determine which majors to consider, which industries to explore or which career fields might be a good fit.
Explore Your Industry
Learn how to research occupations and industries. Whether you're planning for your first job or considering your overall career path, researching specific occupations and industries can help you make informed decisions. This module provides resources to help you begin exploring potential jobs by academic major, occupation title and industry.
Meet Your Network
Develop your interpersonal and communication skills for professional networking. Networking helps students connect with prospective mentors and career advisors, become more comfortable with professional conversations and increase their visibility when searching for jobs.
Continue Your Education
Explore whether graduate or professional school is the right path for you and learn how to pursue it. For students considering a master's degree, doctoral degree or other professional degree, the process can seem daunting. This guide breaks the process down and prepares you for the next stage of your educational journey.
Communicate Your Experience in Writing and Online
Develop your professional documents that communicate your experience, education and skills. Each document serves a different purpose, but all are designed to highlight your strengths, explain any gaps abd tell your story as you advance in your job or internship search. This module teaches you how to craft a resume, tailor a cover letter to a specific application and showcase yourself on LinkedIn.
Communicate Your Experience Verbally
Develop your professional communication skills. This module provides the tools and resources you need to communicate your experience verbally. It covers three areas: elevator pitches, interviewing and salary negotiations.
Gain Practical Experience
Gain career experiences in various forms. Internships, part-time jobs and leadership roles in student organizations are just a few examples. Every experience prepares you to be career-ready. In this module, you'll learn what career readiness means and how to structure your search for finding and landing experiential opportunities.
Navigating the World of Work
Build confidence in the workplace by learning what professionalism looks like and how to succeed in different settings. Discover how to meet expectations, communicate well and adapt to workplace culture.
Career Events and Experiences
Take advantage of campus events to enhance your career readiness and expand your network. The UD Career Center and other campus units host and promote a variety of career-related events throughout the year. Opportunities range from job shadowing with partner employers to large career fairs featuring hundreds of employers. These events allow you to learn about industries that interest you, build network connections and explore opportunities to gain experience. Use this module to prepare for, get tips on and learn how to find campus career events.
Discovery and Support
Explore campus opportunities and use available resources. This module describes campus resources, opportunities to engage with your community and ways to reflect on your experiences in relation to career readiness. You'll learn to engage in practices, find mentors and build a community connected to your chosen industry area or skill.
Special Interest Group Career Development
Learn how participating in special interest groups and engaging in co-curricular activities can influence your career development.

This self-paced, module-based site provides access to personal and professional development activities, career education resources and life design exercises designed to help you develop the career competencies needed to excel on whatever career path you decide to take.
Undergraduate students are automatically enrolled in a section. Graduate students can request enrollment in the graduate version via the link above.
In keeping with the University of Delaware’s Strategic Plan and the Strategic Plan Pillar: Expanding Student Access & Success, the UD Career Center has created a Canvas site that allows every undergraduate student to have equal access to career and life design resources.
No. The UD Career Center provides the UDCC Canvas site as a free resource provided. It is not an academic course, is not associated with academic credit or a grade, and will not appear on your transcript.
While there is no credit or grade associated with the UDCC Canvas site, faculty and instructors may incorporate one or more modules into their academic courses. If a module is assigned as part of a course, completing it may affect your course grade and, in turn, your GPA. We encourage students to complete the modules independently rather than wait to see whether they are incorporated into their major or academic program. Doing so can help students prepare for their post-undergraduate goals.
You have been enrolled to ensure all undergraduate students have equal access to career and life design resources. Unless assigned by a faculty member or instructor as part of an academic class, you are not required to complete any of the UD Career Center Canvas modules.
No, you may complete modules in any order or work through only a section or page of a module. Use Ctrl+F on the Modules page to find content relevant to your needs.
If you complete a module on your own and a faculty member or instructor later assigns it as part of a course, there may be an additional assignment that builds on what you learned in the module. You should speak with your instructor about completing any additional coursework associated with the module.
If you complete a module and still have questions, log into Handshake to schedule an appointment with a career counselor. General questions may also be answered during drop-in hours.
