Where I Am From

China

Where I Am Now

I am a freshman at UD studying chemical engineering.

Where I Am Going

I’d like to build a career that gives me flexibility and independence.

How has the A-UD program supported your transition to college life in the U.S.?

Since the classes are smaller in the A-UD program, we got more help from professors and IAs. Also, there are introductions to university activities and events so that we can adapt to university life faster and more easily.

What was your favorite part of being in the A-UD program?

In the A-UD program, I made many friends from my country and other different countries. Also I learned knowledge about different cultures.

What was your biggest challenge in adjusting to a new culture and campus?

My English speaking was not good when I first came to UD. Also, I was a bit afraid to talk with Americans.

What helped you overcome those challenges?

I tried to talk more with students from other countries in the A-UD program. Then I went to club meetings and university activities like International Coffee Hour. I made some American friends there, and I became more confident in speaking English.

What dreams or goals do you have for your future career?

I would like to graduate with a high GPA and get internships. Hopefully, I will get a job in the U.S.
