New program advances research and creative endeavors

Nine University of Delaware professors were recently selected as the inaugural Arts and Humanities Faculty Fellows in the College of Arts and Sciences. The new program is designed to advance the research and creative endeavors of this college's early career faculty members. The fellowship will culminate in a showcase of the fellows' works planned for 2023-24.

“This was a highly competitive process and all involved were deeply impressed by the caliber of the proposals submitted. It was difficult to choose from the talented pool that applied," noted John A. Pelesko, dean of the College of Arts & Sciences. “These new fellows are engaged in exciting research and creative projects that span a range of disciplines across the arts and humanities."

Award funding can be used in a variety of ways to support research, including wages to support a research assistant, travel to professional conferences, a reduction in course load, and other research-related expenses.

The new fellows are: Emerald Christopher-Byrd, assistant professor of Women and Gender Studies; Adriana Gorea, assistant professor of Fashion and Apparel Studies; Laura Helton, assistant professor of English; Dilia Lopez-Gydosh, assistant professor of Fashion and Apparel Studies; Holly Myers, assistant professor of Languages, Literatures and Cultures; Dael Norwood, assistant professor of History; Keerthi Potluri, assistant professor of English; Jennifer Shafer, assistant professor of Music; and Polly Zavadivker, assistant professor of History.
