Where I Am From

Ibra, Oman

Where I Am Now

Studying English and math courses at the ELI.

Where I Am Going

After I graduate from the ELI, I plan to study Computer Science at the University of Delaware. In the future, I hope to work in a tech field and combine my knowledge of computer science with my interest in design.

How has ELI helped you improve your English?

I have become more confident in speaking and expressing my ideas clearly. I also improved my grammar, vocabulary and listening skills through classes and practice.

How has the ELI made you feel welcomed and safe?

The teachers and staff are very friendly and supportive, which helped me feel comfortable. The students are also kind and welcoming, and they made it easy for me to make friends.

What is your favorite memory from your time spent at the ELI so far?

Beyond the kindness I received from the staff and the students, my favorite memory from my time at the ELI was performing a magic trick during the Festival of Nations event, which was a really fun way to share joy with others. I also enjoyed leading a workshop on how to make perfume and sharing my knowledge with other students. In addition, I really enjoyed participating in the ELI volleyball club and playing with friends.

What challenges have you overcome at the ELI?

One of the challenges I overcame at the ELI was speaking English with confidence. I also had difficulty understanding fast conversations, but my listening skills got better over time.

Practice your talents and hobbies. Don’t be afraid of making mistakes, and try to speak in English as much as possible.
