The Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science Announces New Interim Chair

The University of Delaware Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Science is pleased to announce the appointment of Robin Andreasen to the position of interim chair.

Andreasen has been with the University of Delaware since 1999. Prior to joining UD, Andreasen earned her doctoral degree in philosophy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

In addition to her position in Linguistics and Cognitive Science, Andreasen has an appointment as a professor in the Department of Philosophy. She specializes in philosophy of science, philosophy of social science, and science and policy. Her research interests include the intersectionality of philosophy of science (biological and social) and the philosophy of race and gender, and her current research focuses on diversity in the academic workforce.

Andreasen also serves as the co-director of the UD ADVANCE Institute which is dedicated to faculty development and success. She is the co-PI on UD’s ADVANCE Institutional Transformation grant which was originally funded by a National Science Foundation Institutional Transformation grant. This work involves institutional research of policies, practices, and structures that support faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion. Andreasen devotes her time to projects that aim to improve the advancement of women and underrepresented faculty at UD.​​
