Staff Spotlight: Chiu-Yin Mak

Chiu-Yin Mak is the communications coordinator for the department of sociology and criminal justice and a 2012 graduate of University of Delaware, where she earned a bachelor of science in management and marketing. She returned to UD as a communications associate with global programs and services in Fall 2023 before transitioning to her current role in Fall 2025.

As both an alumna and staff member, Mak brings a unique perspective to her role and is passionate about supporting students and amplifying voices across the department of sociology and criminal justice.

Chiu-Yin oversees a wide range of communications efforts, including social media, newsletters, digital and print promotional materials, and photography. She also interviews students, faculty and alumni to help share their stories and highlight the work happening across the department.
