Lauren Gilligan Graduate Student Spotlight

September 22, 2025 Written by CAS Communication Staff

Lauren Gilligan serves as an Events Manager with the College of Arts and Sciences Events Team at the University of Delaware. In this role, she leads and collaborates on the strategic planning and execution of events ranging from intimate department lectures and meetings to large scale conferences, symposiums, enrollment events, and convocations across the college’s 24+ departments and programs. Her daily responsibilities include managing communication with clients, vendors, and partners, coordinating logistics, and overseeing event strategy.

Lauren shares that one of the things she loves most about working in higher education events is the diversity of experiences they bring, whether in the arts, music, sciences, or research. Her work allows her to partner with experts and create meaningful opportunities for engagement and learning for students, community members, and alumni.

Currently, Lauren is leading preparations for the upcoming UD Blue and Golden Days for prospective students and families. Having stepped in to coordinate enrollment events in the absence of an enrollment manager for CAS, she is excited to launch new ideas and strategies this fall. Looking ahead, she is eager to take the next step in her career, seeking opportunities that combine her graduate degree in communication with her extensive experience in events – two disciplines that perfectly complement each other in shaping client and guest experiences.

She also expressed deep gratitude toward mentors David Hannah and Kami Silk, whose guidance and encouragement inspired her to pursue and complete her graduate degree. Their support has been instrumental not only in her academic journey, but also in her ongoing career path.
