Where I'm From
Oman
Where I Am
I completed the ELI’s Academic Transitions program and recently graduated from UD with a degree in Material Science and Engineering.
Where I'm Going
I want to find a job and work in Oman, and then pursue a master’s degree within two years after employment.

What are you most proud of since graduating from the ELI?
I have several moments I can look back at and be proud of. In my junior year, I started working in the Kayser lab as an undergraduate research assistant, which helped connect with the theory I learned in classes and apply it to real research projects. I also participated in MICROE, a pilot program funded by the NSF for undergraduate research opportunities. Recently, I was awarded the academic achievement award for the College of Engineering's material science department. I am also proud of the time I spent in the ELI as a student life assistant, helping other international students smoothly integrate within UD.
How did the ELI prepare you for university life and academics?
One of the biggest challenges for engineering students is the ability to communicate their ideas and results to the wider public. The academic style of writing is a huge skill that I learned in the ELI that helped me properly communicate my ideas and thoughts.
What challenges did you face when transitioning into your university studies? How did you overcome them?
I would say it was much harder to reach out to the professors and talk to them in the University, compared to the ELI. Just the nature of larger classes with a lot more people makes it harder to stand out for professors to get to know you.
Take advantage of every moment there, YOU ARE GOING TO MISS IT. Get involved in UD’s campus more. Take more pictures. Be kinder to others.
